📊 FP20 Analytics Financial Performance Dashboard

Tool: Power BI | Skills: DAX, Data Visualization, Financial Analysis, Strategic Insight

🔍 Objective

To evaluate a company's financial performance over a 3-year period (2022–2024), focusing on revenue generation, expense allocation, and net profitability. The goal was to identify patterns, uncover strategic decisions, and assess the long-term sustainability of the company’s financial direction.

🛠️ Solution

I designed an interactive Power BI dashboard that integrated key financial metrics across revenue, expense, and profit lines. Using DAX and YoY comparisons, I:

  • Tracked revenue trends and compared actuals to forecasts

  • Analyzed expense surges across departments and vendors

  • Evaluated net profit movement and uncovered a company-wide expansion strategy

  • Visualized granular categories such as cloud hosting costs, payrolls, and marketing spend

The dashboard highlighted both macro-level financial health and micro-level cost drivers, enabling stakeholders to quickly identify areas of overspending and investment focus.

💡 Key Insights

  • Revenue exceeded expectations by $983.5K (up 5.79%) — a strong performance driven by strategic market activities.

  • However, total expenses ballooned to $19.41M, surpassing revenue and leading to a net loss of $1.45M (▼ 8.07%).

  • Clear signs of an aggressive expansion phase:

    • Cloud hosting costs (AWS) skyrocketed >1600% YoY in several months

    • Expenses with vendors like ADP, Stripe, and Hardware Inc. sharply increased

    • New entries like conference travel, premium ads, and employee wellness spending suggested a growth-oriented mindset

  • Despite the loss, the data reflects a confident, long-term scaling strategy, supported by external financing and brand investments.

🚀 Final Verdict: The Company’s Growth Arc

The company consciously chose growth over profit from mid-2022 onward. With rising investments in infrastructure, talent, and outreach, the expense curve outpaced revenue—but not without purpose. The loss of 8.07% appears strategic, not accidental. The data paints a picture of a business scaling for the future, trading short-term profit for long-term positioning.
